App Permissions Explained
The Sarvaantar Android app requests certain device permissions to function correctly. Here is exactly why each permission is needed — and what we do (and don't do) with it.
Location (Fine & Coarse) Required
Used for GPS-based attendance verification and geo-fencing. The app records your location only when you actively tap Clock In or Clock Out. It does not track your location continuously or in the background.
To disable: Android Settings → Apps → Sarvaantar → Permissions → Location → Deny (attendance features will not work)
Camera Required
Used to capture site photographs for project documentation, punch list records, material deliveries, and progress tracking. Photos are tagged with timestamp and GPS coordinates and linked to your project in the cloud.
Photos are never used for any purpose other than project documentation within your organization.
Storage / Files Required
Used to save project data, documents, reports, and synced attendance records locally on your device. This enables full offline functionality — you can continue working even without internet.
We only access files created by the Sarvaantar app — we do not access your personal photos or other app data.
Phone State (READ_PHONE_STATE) Optional
Used to uniquely identify your device for security purposes — specifically to prevent the same account being logged in on multiple devices simultaneously, which could enable proxy attendance.
We do not read your phone calls, call logs, or any communication data.
Internet Access Required
Required to sync attendance, tasks, photos, and project data with the cloud server. The app functions offline — this permission enables the sync once connectivity is restored. Without it, data would remain local and invisible to your supervisor and admin.
Notifications Optional
Used to send you task reminders, attendance alerts from your supervisor, payroll notifications, and project updates. You can manage notification preferences inside the app or from Android Settings.
Disabling notifications will not affect core app functionality but you may miss important updates.
Receive Boot Completed Optional
Allows the app to start background sync services automatically after your device restarts. This ensures that data recorded offline before a restart is not lost and syncs as soon as connectivity is available.

Common Questions
On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password". Enter your registered mobile number and you will receive an OTP. Enter the OTP, then set a new password. If you do not receive the OTP, check that you have mobile data or Wi-Fi and that you entered the correct number. Contact support if the issue persists.
This usually happens for one of three reasons: (1) Location permission is set to "Allow only while using app" — ensure it is enabled. (2) GPS is turned off — enable Location from your phone's quick settings panel. (3) You are indoors with poor GPS signal — step closer to a window or outdoors briefly. Make sure High Accuracy mode is enabled in your phone's Location settings.
Only Company Admins can add new workers. Log in to the Admin Web Portal, go to Workers → Add Worker, fill in the worker's details (name, mobile, designation, wage rate), and assign them to a project. The worker will receive an SMS with their login credentials and can download the app immediately.
Yes. All core functions — clock in/out, task updates, photo capture, material issuance — work offline. Data is stored on your device and automatically synced when you regain connectivity. Ensure you have synced recently (within 24 hours) before going offline so your project data is up to date.
